STATE OF CONNECTICUT FEMA COVID Assistance for Community Health (COACH)- A Program for Individuals Experiencing Homelessness
The Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) has received funding through Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for a short-term Crisis Counseling Assistance and Training Program referred to herein as CT COVID-19 Assistance for Community Health (COACH). The program is administered by Advanced Behavioral Health, Inc. Six (6) DMHAS funded agencies aligned with Coordinated Access Networks are contracted with ABH to work with individuals experiencing homelessness/housing instability throughout the state. Five (5) DMHAS funded agencies are contracted with DMHAS to work with senior citizens in congregate care setting and in the community. Additionally, DMHAS has contracted with the Cross Street Training & Academic Center/Ministerial Health Fellowship to provide outreach and support to communities in Fairfield, New Haven, Hartford and Middlesex counties.
There are three COACH outreach teams: Homeless / Housing Instability Outreach Team, Senior Outreach Team, and Cross Street Training & Academic Center (CSTAC)/Ministerial Health Fellowship Outreach Team. Each team has staff employed by local agencies to best find and help local disaster survivors.
