Multi-Systemic Therapy is an intensive family-driven, community-based treatment for youth with serious behavioral problems, particularly young offenders. MST is nationally recognized as an evidence-based, model program in the treatment of youth criminal behavior, substance abuse, and emotional disturbance. MST focuses on empowering families and promoting behavioral change through interventions within the youth’s natural environment, including family, peers, school, and neighborhood. Clients served are youth ages 12 – 17 who are typically abusing substances, at risk of out-of-home placement, and involved in the juvenile justice system. ABH® is contracted by the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the Court Support Services Division (CSSD) to provide statewide clinical consultation, training, and program development to all of the 21 MST teams in Connecticut and ensure that the MST model is delivered effectively.
