Clinical Care Team Leader

POSITION SUMMARY:

 The Clinical Care Team Leader performs various clinical and administrative tasks supporting the provider training and monitoring functions of Advanced Behavioral Health, Inc., specifically related to performance of responsibilities associated with the 1115 Waiver Demonstration Project contract and the utilization management functions of the Behavioral Health Recovery Program.  The Clinical Care Team Leader works in conjunction with the Vice President of Programs to fulfill contractual clinical requirements. This position will represent ABH® and its services in a positive and professional manner and adhere to ABH®’s best practices, guidelines, policies and procedures as established, promoting ABH as a leader in behavioral healthcare in all interactions and work.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Ensure the smooth operation of contracted duties related to the implementation of the 1115 Waiver Demonstration Project – provider education to improve understanding of most recent version of American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria, chart review audits, and program site monitoring.  These include, but are not limited to maintaining familiarity and understanding of contract requirements related to the daily performance of activities, including changes to criteria or site requirements; provide consultation and technical support to Clinical Care Specialist and Customer Service staff to assist in scheduling and managing site visits or provider contacts; and act as liaison to the Vice President of Programs should further consultation on formulation of data collected be necessary;
  • Training and oversight of all clinical staff, including, but not limited to, the following: orient and train Clinical Care Specialist staff, including maintaining Orientation/Resource Manual for all clinical staff; develop an individual training schedule for new staff; monitor the progress/training of new clinical staff, reporting training progress of each new clinical staff person to the Vice President of Programs on a weekly basis;
  • Monitor the status of utilization management reviews for Natchaug and 23-Hour Observation beds, including timeliness of review completion, monitoring of outlier cases working in collaboration with the Clinical Care Specialists, monitoring the individual Clinical Specialist’s ability to meet all contract requirements for BHRP and working with administrative support staff to determine distribution of other clinical responsibilities, such as ACD call messages;
  • Perform or assist Clinical Care Specialist staff in Provider training, via videoconference or in-person site visits to provider agencies to increase understanding and application of ASAM criteria and other level of care-specific requirements as outlined in the Connecticut Substance Use Disorders Services Policy and Clinical Assumptions Grid (or equivalent document);
  • Perform or assist Clinical Care Specialist staff in performing Chart Reviews and Site Monitor Tools remotely and/or through on-site visits to provider agencies.  This job function would include compilation of results of chart review tools and follow-up with Providers to discuss findings of the audit results;
  • Ensure integrity of data collected during the Chart Review and Site Monitoring visits through random audits of completed monitoring tools; act as resource to clinical staff regarding use of monitoring tools; provide feedback and additional training to Clinical Care Specialist staff as needed in response to audits;
  • In collaboration with the Vice President of Programs, modify existing Training documents, Chart Review tools or Site Monitoring tools as needed to ensure compliance with level of care requirements developed by ASAM, the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services/Department of Social Services;
  • Other administrative duties, as identified by the Vice President of Programs, including but not limited to act as liaison between clinical staff and BHRP/ABH® management team; act as liaison between clinical staff and GAICM/ERSC, BHRP Basic Needs staff; attendance at, and/or participation in, activities related to the 1115 Waiver Demonstration Project or Behavioral Health Recovery Program Contract, as identified by the Vice President of Programs or Assistant Vice President of Programs;
  • Maintains confidentiality of all client protected health information and adheres to all HIPAA related reviews, goal setting, etc;
  • Demonstrates ethical behavior and cultural sensitivity in all activities involving individuals of diverse backgrounds;
  • Performs other tasks/responsibilities as required to support the business operations.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s Degree and a valid Connecticut license as a behavioral health professional (RN, LCSW, LMFT, LPC, etc.);
  • Knowledge of ASAM Level of Care Criteria;
  • Seven (7) years experience in behavioral health, preferably with at least five (5) years of experience in direct service delivery, some of which has been working in the treatment of substance use disorders;
  • Three (3) years experience in a managed care environment.  This experience may have occurred in a managed care company, and/or a treatment setting;
  • 4 years of demonstrated supervisory experience;
  • Must have valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation;
  • Attends annual conflict of interest training.

  • Ability to effectively plan, assign, direct and evaluate the work of staff; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally;
  • Must be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands;
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to work on multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent PC skills with demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Package (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Outlook); internet;
  • Strong written and verbal skills required.
