Director of Training


We are currently seeking an energetic Director of Training to be part of an exciting new program based in Northern New Jersey (Newark area).  This highly visible position is part of the management team and will play an integral role in the start up of this new program.  This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your leadership and organizational skills.  The qualified individual must be an experienced licensed mental health professional with extensive substance abuse experience and a passion for training.  The position requires in-state travel and occasional travel to Connecticut.



This Director of Training is responsible for developing and coordinating training modules for the Enhanced Care Management for Opioid Use Disorder (ECM) program to ensure that the assigned New Jersey HUB is operating according to contract requirements and delivering desired outcomes.  This includes tracking participation, evaluating for impact, with a continuous focus on efficiency and improvement to ensure that staff at all levels have the knowledge and resources they need to be successful in their roles.


  • Works in conjunction with ECM staff to develop and implement a skill-building training program for case management. .  
  • Development of Training Program and a Training Manual to include specific modules related to intensive case management,  ethics, care management, client services, etc.
  • Utilizes research and best practices to support staff training and a staff development plan that supports program initiatives to deliver desired outcomes.  
  • Provides research and written analysis of issues as assigned. Develops quantitative and qualitative research projects to further enhance the knowledge of best practices for staff development and training within the nonprofit sector.
  • Remains current on organizational and training best-practices, through independent study and attendance at seminars, conferences, conventions, and other related activities.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all client protected health information and adheres to all HIPAA policies and procedures;
  • Demonstrates ethical behavior and cultural sensitivity in all activities involving individuals of diverse background;
  • Performs other tasks/responsibilities as required to support the business operations.


Responsible for the supervision/management of staff assigned.  This includes; but is not limited to establishing and maintaining a working environment conducive to positive morale and teamwork; recruit and hire qualified employees; provide orientation and on-the-job training for staff.  Establish short and long term goals that are both measurable and obtainable to meet contract requirements and ensure that these expectations are clearly communicated and understood by all direct and indirect reports.  Review and approve all applicable timesheets.  Oversee the daily responsibilities of direct reports to ensure that ECM policies and procedures are being followed and the program/department goals are being met.  Provide year-round feedback to employees, counseling, coaching, and training resources and support as necessary.  Refer performance concerns/issues to next level Manager & Human Resources Department for advice, next steps and appropriate action. Complete timely staff performance evaluations outlining clearly defining goals/expectations, secure applicable signatures/approvals and process paperwork.


  • Must have knowledge in adult learning theories and curriculum development and be able to research new best practices and maintain expertise in the field/
  • Ability to use multiple instructional strategies to teach to various learning styles. 
  • Demonstrated leadership, organization and planning skills;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and the ability to relate to individuals at all levels with diverse personalities in a diplomatic and professional manner;
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to work on multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills and presentation skills, including public speaking skills;
  • Demonstrates a high degree of adaptability, comfortable in establishing new directions, managing rapid change and experimenting with different approaches. 
  • Ability to travel independently to HUB locations. Must have regular access to a reliable vehicle.

  • MA degree in Clinical field
  • Clinical License preferred
  • Management experience a must
  • Five years of professional level training experience; including the development and implementation of training programs and policies.
  • Experience in human services a must, experience in substance use treatment preferred.
  • Excellent PC skills with demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Package (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Outlook); internet;
